Job Position

I. Chair Professor

1. Profound understanding on the development direction of the discipline, rich experience in proposal of strategic, forward-looking and creative research ideas, and lead the department to catch up with or maintain the global advanced level in the frontier field.

2. Committed to the improvement of the overall quality and research level of faulty, and actively introduce and cultivate outstanding talents.

II. Outstanding Professor

1. High artistic quality of teaching method and rich experience or capability in cultivating top-notch innovative talents, completing teaching tasks of school and university, carry out in-depth teaching research and reform, and achieve outstanding teaching achievement.

2. Independent research direction in line with the development of the discipline, feed the major needs of national economic and social development with discipline results, and carry out academic research of the discipline at international advanced level.

3. Active role in department construction, independent/cooperation research center construction, talent introduction and international cooperation.

III. Outstanding Associate Professor

1. High artistic quality of teaching method and rich experience or capability in cultivating top-notch innovative talents, completing teaching tasks of school and university, carry out cogent teaching research and reform, and achieve impressive teaching achievement.

2. Engaged in high-level scientific research, the research direction has a reasonable match to development of the department. Demonstrate outstanding performance in global research fields and gain recognition by peer experts.

3. Active role in department construction, independent/cooperation research center construction, talent introduction and international cooperation.

IV. Lecturer（industrial design major）

1. Global outlook, passion for education, and the ability to teach independently. As a lecturer in undergraduate or graduate education and other education masks, the position requires the candidate to teach fundamental courses or core courses.

2. Active role in department construction, independent/cooperation research center construction, talent introduction and international cooperation.

Introduction of ME

The School of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1997 and relocated to the Peiyang Park Campus of Tianjin University in 2015, with a total building area of 77,000 square meters across four BLDGs. In the 2016 national discipline assessment of Ministry of Education, all three first-level disciplines ranked A-class. In 2022, the discipline of power engineering and engineering thermophysics was awarded in the list of first-class disciplines of China. The disciplines of mechanical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics were awarded the "Tianjin Top Discipline Cultivation Program" as well.

The School of Mechanical Engineering consists of three departments: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, and Energy and Power Engineering, as well as the National Experimental Education Demonstration Center for Mechanical Engineering. It has established five undergraduate programs: Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, Engineering Mechanics, Energy and Power Engineering, Industrial Design, and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering. The first four have been approved as "National First-Class Undergraduate Program," while the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering program has been approved as a "Tianjin First-Class Undergraduate Program." The school boasts three first-level doctoral programs and post-doctoral research stations in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, which include 14 second-level doctoral programs, 1 engineering doctoral program, 17 master's programs, and four engineering master's programs. It has an enrollment of over 1,200 undergraduate students, more than 1,400 master's students, and over 940 doctoral students.

The school aims to "first-class talents, first-class faculty, first-class disciplines, first-class academics, and first-class environment". There are more than 360 employees and more than 250 full-time faculties with 10 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences and foreign academicians.

There are State Key Laboratory of Engines, the Key Laboratory of Institutional Theory and Equipment Design of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Advanced Ceramics and Processing Technology of the Ministry of Education (jointly built with the School of Materials Science and Engineering), three key laboratories of Tianjin, and a number of high-level scientific research bases and cooperation platforms, with scientific research funds of more than 1.3 billion yuan in the past five years.
