BRIEF INTRODUCTION

　　Founded in 1997, the School of Mechanical Engineering in Tianjin University can be traced back to the establishment of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Tianjin Western Studies School in 1895.

　　The School consists of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mechanics, Department of Energy and Power Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Practice Teaching Center. There are five undergraduate programs: Mechanical Design Manufacture and Automation, Engineering Mechanics, Energy and Power Engineering, Industrial Design and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, among which Mechanical Design Manufacture and Automation, Engineering Mechanics and Energy and Power Engineering were rated as national first-class undergraduate programs. It owns three first-level disciplines for Doctoral Degrees and Post-Doctoral Moving Stations including Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, 14 second-level Doctoral programs, 17 Master’s degree programs.

　　The School aims to cultivate top talents, train a top-ranking faculty team, construct first-class disciplines and foster a favorable academic environment. It is staffed with 370 teachers, including 245 professors\associate professors\lectures. The School’s enrollments are 1,980 undergraduates, 1,348 postgraduate students and 787 doctoral students.

　　In the recent 4 years, the School has made great achievements such as over 500 programs in international cooperation, national, ministerial and enterprise projects, annual research funding of 230 million Yuan, over 1200 academic papers, more than 300 SCI/EI/ISTP papers, over 300 application for patents. The School establishes long-term cooperative relationships with internationally renowned universities and hosts academic conferences.

　　The School believes that top-level talents should be cultivated with high-level scientific research and innovation. In recent years, students have won 142 national honors, including the Gold Medal of China College Students' 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, etc. The employment rate remains high in recent years .
