美国工程院院士史建军教授访问天津大学机械工程学院并作学术报告

(通讯员 葛翔,摄影 张士岳)5月3日,应天津大学副校长王树新教授邀请,美国工程院院士、佐治亚理工学院工业与系统工程学院和机械工程学院联合聘任Carolyn J. Stewart 讲席教授史建军在我校北洋园校区37教学楼宏远报告厅为机械工程学院师生作了题为《Data Fusion for Quality Improvement in Smart Manufacturing System》的学术报告。报告由天津大学副校长王树新教授主持,机械工程学院院长王天友教授、机械工程系主任秦旭达教授及相关老师出席,机械工程学院青年教师、研究生等二百余人认真聆听了报告。

报告中,史建军院士介绍了工业大数据、智能制造、质量科学和工业工程等方面的前沿研究进展,结合与波音等工业界顶级公司的实际合作项目深入浅出地讲解了数据融合在智能制造领域的成功应用案例,并对做好基础研究的基本方法进行了详细剖析。问答环节中,在场师生们就多目标优化和科研方法等问题进行了踊跃提问。史建军院士详细回答了师生的问题,以谦和的态度、条理清晰又不失幽默的回答赢得了师生们的阵阵掌声。

史建军院士的专题报告,使师生们开拓了视野,更清晰地了解了工业大数据、智能制造的前沿问题,也使青年教师及研究生在今后的工作和学习中明确了培养创新能力、进行基础科研的方法,使在场师生们受益匪浅。

报告结束后,史建军院士在机械工程学院机械工程系主任秦旭达教授等老师的陪同下,参观了机械工程学院的实验室,并与相关老师做了深入的学术交流。

(Correspondent Xiang Ge, Photographer Shiye Zhang) On the morning of May 3, 2018, at the invitation of Professor Shuxin Wang, Vice President of Tianjin University, an academician of the American Academy of Engineering, Jianjun Shi, Chair Professor of Carolyn J. Stewart, Professor of technology and systems engineering and college of mechanical engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology, presented the title “Data Fusion for Quality Improvement in Smart Manufacturing System” for the faculty and students of the School of Mechanical Engineering in Hongyuan lecture hall, No.37 building, Beiyang yuan campus, Tianjin University. The presentation was chaired by Professor Shuxin Wang, Vice President of Tianjin University. Professor Tianyou Wang, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Xuda Qin, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and some faculty members attended. More than 200 people attended the presentation, including young faculty members and graduate students of the School of Mechanical Engineering.

In the presentation, Academician Jianjun Shi introduced the advanced research progress in industrial big data, smart manufacturing, quality science and industrial engineering. The successful application of data fusion in the field of smart manufacturing is explained in the light of the practical cooperation projects with the top industrial companies such as Boeing, and the basic methods of doing a good job of basic research are analyzed in detail. During the Q & A session, faculty members and students actively asked questions about multi-objective optimization and scientific research methods. Academician Jianjun Shi answered the faculty members and students undefined questions in detail, winning applause from faculty members and students.

The presentation of Academician Jianjunun Shi has enabled faculty members and students to broaden their horizons, to understand more clearly the frontier problems of industrial big data and smart manufacturing, and to make it clear that young faculty members and graduate students will cultivate their innovative abilities in their future work and study. The method of carrying out basic scientific research has greatly benefited faculty members and students present.

After the presentation, Academician Jianjun Shi, accompanied by Professor Qin Xuda, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, visited the laboratory of the School of Mechanical Engineering and made in-depth academic exchanges with the relevant faculty members.
